Rigat mill

The Rigat mill is a quintessential paper mill. It has three distinct parts: house, gazebo and mill, and was built as a stately farmhouse.

In 1735, the Dukes of Medinaceli authorised the construction of a cloth mill at this location, a mill which was later transformed into a paper mill. The Dukes charged the millers to use the river water.

At the entrance to the mill is a fountain built into the wall and decorated with marble: the Rigat fountain.

The Rigat bridge, also known as the Iron bridge, was built in 1883 by the same person who built the Boixera bridge to allow passage for the train between Barcelona and Igualada. In 1939, during the Spanish Civil War, it was damaged by a dynamite blast, but was quickly rebuilt the following year.
